What Laura's reading

Hi all,
Okay, for this week I finished the Delany book and it's a great spooky Halloween book. No blood, guts and gore, but lots of things that go bump in the night. I've finished Meg Tilly's book Porcupine and I liked it. The plot is interesting, holds some ambiguity, and has a good metaphor at the very end. The last kid's book I read was a recomendation from Gwen called Far Traveler by Tingle. It's very accurate historical fiction in the era of Edward I of England. Aethwyn is the shy daughter of a powerful lady who can't fill the shoes that her mother left behind. In the course of the story, Aethwyn changes and matures, but stays true to the historical record. A good book to read with your children. I've also read some more Carol Berg and am continuing to enjoy her plot lines and characters. Toby Bishop, Airs Beneath the Moon, is a perfect book for those who love the idea of flying horses. If you like Lightening Daughter by Mary Herbert from a number of years ago, I think that you'll like Toby Bishop. Th-Th-That's all folks. More to come later - Laura

Holiday Season!

Don't let the holidays sneek up on you! The longer you wait the harder it will be to get that special something for your special someone. We love matching people with books and can do so easily even with little details. Remember, we do carry more than just books, come see what we have for you!

October 16 New Website and Blog

Hooray! New new website is live, we hope you like the new look and feel and the features we've brought to you.

I'm going to try to post every few days about the books I've been reading. Okay, I just finished Bound by Napoli. It's a retelling of the Cinderella story set in China during the era when binding women's feet was fasionable. It's a fun version of the fairy tale, with lots of historical detail.

After that I read Sherman Alexie's new book The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian and I absolutely loved this book its fabuluous, funny, sad and an all round great read.

Now, I'm reading the Last Apprentice, Airs Beneath the Moon and The Seeing Stone. I'll tell you about them when I finish them.

Happy Reading - Laura
